FAQs for FAQs ETO Machine

General Information

An ETO Sterilization Machine uses ethylene oxide gas to sterilize medical devices, instruments, and other equipment. It is effective in eliminating bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms without causing damage to the items being sterilized.
ETO sterilization works by exposing items to ethylene oxide gas in a controlled environment. The gas penetrates the materials and disrupts the DNA of microorganisms, effectively killing them. The process usually involves preconditioning, gas exposure, and aeration phases.
ETO sterilization is suitable for a wide range of materials including Silicon, plastics, metals, glass, and certain fabrics. It is particularly useful for heat-sensitive and moisture-sensitive items.
Yes, when used correctly, ETO sterilization is safe. The process is tightly controlled and monitored to ensure safety for operators and effectiveness in sterilization. Proper aeration is crucial to remove any residual gas from sterilized items.
  • -Chamber: Where items are placed for sterilization.
    – Vacuum System: Removes air from the chamber to allow effective gas penetration.
  • -Gas Delivery /ETO Cartridge Puncture System: Introduces ethylene oxide gas into the chamber.
  • -Control System: Manages the sterilization cycle parameters.
  • -Aeration System: Removes residual ethylene oxide gas after sterilization.

FAQs for ETO Machine

General Information

The entire process, including preconditioning, gas exposure, and aeration, will take 6-8 hours it also depends on the load size and type of materials being sterilized.
Effectiveness is validated through biological indicators (BIs) that contain resistant microorganisms. These indicators are placed within the load and tested after sterilization to ensure that all microorganisms have been killed.
  • -Proper ventilation and aeration to remove residual gas.
  • -Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by operators.
  • -Regular maintenance and leak testing of the machine.
If a sterilization cycle fails, the load should not be used until it is successfully re-sterilized. Investigate and rectify the cause of the failure, whether it’s due to machine malfunction, incorrect parameters, or load configuration.
